Showing Up, Part 2 - A Better 2021

Last week I wrote on “showing up” and being a genuine, authentic person. In that post I was going to speak more on how that was going to look for me, but I decided to hold off and use it for this post. I want to talk about the new year ahead of us and how it could look.

I think it is very important to take time to look inward and determine what is most important to us. Constant re-evaluation is critical to figure out how we want to take action. What better time than the turn of a new year?

My goal with this post is to encourage everyone reading to take some time to sit down and break out an action plan for yourself. Really dig deep and figure out what it is that you want the most—and I’m not talking about material possessions—I’m talking about physical, life-altering change that is necessary for your own personal growth. (Material possessions don’t have to be completely ruled out, but your list should not be completely inundated with those items alone.)

For example, do you need to focus more on your financial situation, or mend personal or romantic relationships? Would a healthier lifestyle or a more focused fitness routine benefit you? Is your stress or anxiety high and in-need of some major attention? Whatever it might be, I want you to narrow it down to some list worthy items.

2020 was a hard year for everyone in some way, shape, or form. This year, more than ever, people need some positive change in their lives. I’m still developing my complete list of goals for this year, but I have nailed down a majority of what is most important to me and what I would like to see happen this year.

My 2021 list looks something like this so far:

  • Continue to focus on my fitness and health

  • Further my education to support my long-term goals

  • Build more meaningful connections with friends, family, and co-workers

  • Have at least five new major experiences/explorations

  • Show up to this world in a manner consistent with my core beliefs and values

  • Travel more / take more photos / create awesome unforgettable memories

  • Set firm goals and create my first vision / future board

For 2021, show up to the world in a way that would make anyone proud—including yourself. We have control over a lot more than we probably realize, but it has to start with us. We have to be aware of our wants and needs in order to uncover the best path to get from point A to B.

My ask for each of you is to allocate some time for yourself to sit and create an action plan that will make this year one of your best yet.

Last year the blog had an overwhelmingly amazing turnout and I intend to take things to a new level for 2021. I have a lot of new content planned and I truly hope to continue seeing all of you keep visiting. Let’s keep motivating and inspiring one another and create better lives for ourselves and those around us.

Love Always,

Logan August
